Not the tipical dog could possibly do this. Actually, you’d better hope yours can’t, because your dog-toy needs might break the bank.
A border collie named Chaser has learned the names of 1,022 individual items — more than any other animal, even the Alex, the Legandary parrot.
It's amazing how animals can interact, knowing all sorts of things that we didn't expect them to know.

The machine can fit into existing assembly line positions and work all day and all night

A new cheerful factory robot aims to keep European industry competitive by working alongside humans, smiling when it accomplishes a task or when its bosses ensure it stays busy. The pi4_workerbot, developed at Fraunhofer labs, has fingertip sensitivity — it completes the perennially difficult robot task of grasping an egg — and a variety of facial expressions.

Holiday Video: Cute Quadrocopter Hovers Above Piano, Picks Out 'Jingle Bells'

Merry Christmas from the flying robots of Switzerland. Watch as a Swiss quadrocopter named “Echo” plays a little something for the holidays.
The robot is a test subject at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology’s Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control. Researchers put a piano in their Flying Machine Arena so Echo could play “Jingle Bells.”
and if a quadrocopter can do that amazing stuff, I think by 2015 or so, we won't need humans playing instroments or even singing!- robots will probably do the work at an amazing rate!

In The Tiniest Receiver Ever, Graphene Can Directly Detect Radio Signals

GM Is Turning Recycled Deepwater Horizon Oil Containment Booms Into New Chevy Volts

As if it further needed to drive home its eco-friendly, anti-oil message, the Chevy Volt will soon boast a body made partially of recycled equipment originally used in the Gulf oil leak cleanup efforts. Specifically, GM will use recycled plastic from oil booms, which are sort of floating containment walls meant to keep oil in one place.

Solar Sail Arrays Could Be Used to Divert Incoming Asteroids by Shading Them From the Sun

Most asteroid diversion schemes tend to involve some kind of impact – an explosion, a crash, a violent shove – but a French researcher has proposed an intriguing plan to alter the course of the asteroid Apophis before it swings into Earth’s neighborhood in 2036: offer the asteroid some shade. A fleet of solar sail spacecraft could shift Aphophis’s course by simply shielding it from solar radiation, the researcher says.

These facts offer insight into tickling’s evolutionary purpose, says Robert R. Provine, a neuroscientist at the University of Maryland and the author of the book Laughter: A Scientific Investigation. Tickling, he says, is partly a mechanism for social bonding between close companions and helps forge relationships between family members and friends.

It's Pretty impressive how Apple could fit so many ideas into something so remarkable thin- at just 1/2 an inch the iPad is the thinnest, most reliable tablet in the industry. with revolutions like multi-touch from iPhone's Technoligy, the App Store, the iTunes store, and so much more, the iPad is clearely a revolution to everyone's needs-- gaming, media, entertainment, work anll in one handy, usefull, ultra powerfull tablet that everyone benifits from-- any age, anywhere, anyhow... hands down. how did Apple do it? After years of companies trying to cram a computer into a tablet—the resulting boxes have been too heavy, the software too sparse, the screen too small—Apple made what everyone wanted: a sleek device with a gorgeous screen and a dead- simple interface that makes you want to sit back and play. The trick? Rather than shrink a computer, enlarge a phone. By using the same multitouch gestures and App Store as the iPhone, Apple created an intimate gadget for updating your Facebook status, watching a movie, or reading a magazine. Making it look simple, though, is complicated.

Japanese Create A Mutant Mouse That Tweets Like a Bird

A laboratory at the University of Osaka running an ongoing study on evolution has revealed that they’ve produced a genetically engineered mouse that tweets like a bird. They’ve produced more than 100 of them actually, as well as a mouse with short limbs and one with a tail like a dachshund. It’s all part of a larger study into how genetic mutations drive evolutions and diverse outcomes that can come about as a result of miscopying DNA.

FCC Expected to Pass Net Neutrality Rules Today, Drawing Line Between Wired and Wireless Web

After a bitter five year debate, the Federal Communications Commission is expected to pass a set of net neutrality rules at a meeting today that draw a stark distinction between wireline and wireless internet, scoring a measured victory for net neutrality advocates but spelling uncertainty for the future of the web. On the one hand, traditional hard-line internet providers will be prohibited from blocking or reducing access to any sites or applications.

Nanotech Makes Single Molecule Glow, Showing New Promise For Tiny Optoelectronics

For the first time, scientists have observed a single molecule emitting light when sandwiched between broken segments of a carbon nanotube. The new device emitted just one photon for every 1 billion electrons, according to the study. The research could lead to development of optical electronics based on individual molecules. Total Lunar Eclipse Visible From North America On December 20, 2010!

And it's the first lunar eclipse to fall on the winter solstice in 372 years
