So... What's the new iPhone going to be called?

This March, Apple introduced what people were expecting to call "iPad 3". Unfortunately, that never happened and we needed to stop our force of habit to call it "iPad 3". As most people know, Apple's 2012 iPad is called "The new iPad". What happens when the iPad 4 or whatever Apple chooses to call it comes out? They'll call their so-called "New iPad" "iPad (3rd generation)". We think, Apple thinks that iPad is "so popular" and everything, that they don't need to give iPads a last name.

So what does this mean for the iPhone? We're not sure wether Apple chooses to keep the name "iPhone 5". Although, I could already envision Steve Jobs saying that if he were still alive, Apple might choose to call their new iPhone "The new iPhone". Several sources have picked up on this discussion as well. By the way, while we're still picking up on potential features for the "New iPhone" or "iPhone 5", the image above, from Google images, was featured on CNET, displays the most likely new features. We're still working on the rest of the features but we think that the "no home button" feature won't be found in Apple's new phone, because the feature was highly expected in the iPad 3 (now "the New iPad"), and it still wasn't present. Apple might think of the home button on its' mobile devices as a signature that screams "Hi, I'm an Apple product".
